Dedicated to the memory of all the men and women of the Bridgnorth area who died during the two World Wars.
I have not yet been able to positively identify this man. 'DYLI' does not appear to be a standard regimental abbreviation. Possibly a reference to the 150th (York and Durham) Brigade of the 50th (Northumbrian) Division?
The Shropshire Roll of Honour website (http://issuu.com/shropshireroh/) identifies 27428 Private William Clarke, 4th South Wales Borderers, who was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 30th January, 1917, but I have not yet found any evidence to connect this man to Highley.
This memorial has mostly been compiled from official sources. It would be good to be able to expand it with more personal material - memories, stories, photos, etc. If you have any suitable material or any corrections please contact Greg. For news of updates follow @BridgnorthHeros on Twitter.
