Dedicated to the memory of all the men and women of the South Staffordshire area who died during the two World Wars.
A Gothic style cross in the churchyard of SS Mary & Chad. Designed by W D Caroe and unveiled in 1921. An inscription around the base of the cross reads TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF BREWOOD WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918. THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE. AND IN THE WAR 1939-1946. The names of the men are carried on plaques attached to the steps beneath the cross.
A report in the Staffordshire Advertiser of 22nd November 1919, records the decision that the three wards of Brewood Parish Council (Bishopswood, Coven and Brewood), would each erect its own war memorial. A committee including the Vicar, the Parish Priest and the Congregational Minister was set up to decide the form of the Brewood memorial.
An article in the Express and Star of November 11th, 2006, records the addition of a further plaque bearing the name of Sergeant Herbert William Foster but there was no evidence of this when the memorial was photographed for this website (possibly covered by the poppy wreaths.)
